SANDA

Chinese full-contact combat sport

What is Sanda?

Sanda (also known as Sanshou) is a modern Chinese hand-to-hand combat system and a full-contact sport. Distilled from traditional Kung Fu techniques, Sanda was developed by the Chinese military to be a practical, efficient, and devastatingly effective fighting style.

Striking (Da/Tui)

Incorporates explosive boxing combinations and high-impact kicks. Sanda is famous for its fast footwork and powerful strikes that set up transitions to wrestling.

Wrestling (Shuai)

Unlike standard kickboxing, Sanda emphasizes takedowns and throws. Using an opponent’s momentum against them is a core skill in this discipline.

Seizing (Na)

The Leitai Platform

Matches are fought on an 8×8 meter elevated platform called a Leitai. With no ropes to hold them in, fighters must maintain perfect spatial awareness. Pushing an opponent off the platform is not just a strategy—it’s a path to victory.
